Burj Al Arab in Dubai Hit by Iranian Drone Strike: What Happened

Dubai – The Burj Al Arab, Dubai’s most iconic hotel, caught fire early Sunday morning after being struck by an Iranian drone. The 60-storey, five-star hotel stands on an artificial island near Jumeirah Beach and is famous worldwide for its sail-shaped design.

This incident was part of a series of retaliatory attacks on the United Arab Emirates following recent US and Israeli strikes on Iran.

Damage and Response at Burj Al Arab

The 321-metre-tall Burj Al Arab, the sixth-tallest hotel in the world, was hit by fragments from the intercepted Iranian drone. Dubai’s Media Office confirmed:

“The competent authorities in Dubai announced that a drone was intercepted, and its fragments caused a small fire on the exterior facade of the Burj Al Arab hotel. Civil defense teams were able to control the incident without any injuries.”

No casualties were reported at the hotel, but Dubai International Airport sustained damage, leaving four people injured.

Air Travel Disruptions

Following the attacks, UK flights to the Middle East were canceled, and airports in Dubai and Doha suspended all operations until further notice. The UK Foreign Office warned British citizens in Dubai to “immediately shelter in place.”

Other Targets Hit in Dubai

Earlier, Fairmont The Palm on Palm Jumeirah was also hit. Video footage showed the five-star hotel engulfed in flames while UAE air defense systems intercepted multiple Iranian missiles.
